O que significa “darn good” e “darn lucky”?
1- It looks as if you girls have been getting along all right, but it’s a darn good thing we found you when we did
2- You are darn lucky we got here in time to rescue you
1 –
DARN é usado pra enfatizar, significa ”very”.
it’s a darn good thing= Uma coisa muito boa, algo muito bom
You are darn lucky we got here in time to rescue you=você teve uma sorte imensa de nós chegarmos aqui a tempo de te resgatar.
2 –
It’s also a replace for “damn”. Since damn has a whole religious thing with it, some people will use “darn” instead.
3 –
Some people say ”Darn it!” instead of ”Damn it!’
4 –
Darn good – muito bem
You know darn well that they are honest and completely reliable.
(a bit of a stretch here, but depending on context it could be this way.)
5 –
”Darn” is used to emphasize what one says. It is less harsh than ”damn’.
Ex) There’s not a damn thing you can do about it now. = It means there’s nothing at all you can do about it.
